I'm currently making food using the gentle arts of knitting and crochet. On the table at the moment is a plate of salad topped with skewered kebabs, and another plate with two pies and a garnish of parsley and sliced tomatoes (pictured here). Work in progress includes a selection of sushi and a three-tiered wedding cake. They are all destined for a display entitled The Knitted Feast at the Spring Knitting and Stitching Show at Olympia, London, from 3-6 March. After the publication of several books a few years ago – Knitted Fruit, Knitted Vegetables, Knitted Fast Food, all published by Search Press – I have been giving my attention to other subject matter, so it is lovely to be returning to culinary creations, especially as I enjoy cooking and eating food as much as I enjoy knitting it. I am particularly pleased with my knitted salad ingredients: crinkly-edged lettuce leaves, and slices of cucumber and tomato.
I will be at the Show, on Stand L1, with a selection of my food-related knitting books for sale and lots of tips and ideas to share, so do come along and say 'Hello'!
