I've been knitting flowers for a new book to be published by Search Press in November 2009. My brief was to design 20 different flowers and I had great fun making them. It was a challenge because everything had to be knitted – no crochet allowed – so I had to be very resourceful. Sourcing the yarns was interesting too, trying to find the right textures and colours.
I am used to knitting sweaters and blankets,
and accessories such as hats and scarves so it made a change to create much smaller items that took very little time to make and used such a small amount of yarn. Two of my favourites are the cactus flower (right) and Sweet William (far right).
