I've started teaching at a local college. This term it's drawing and painting then, after Christmas, they've asked me to do six sessions of knitting followed by six sessions of crochet, aimed at beginners. So, in anticipation, I've been knitting and crocheting even more than usual in the evenings, so I will have lots of inspirational samples to show the students.
I'm very glad that crochet is experiencing a revival. Last year I wrote a book on crochet, Crochet for Beginners, then contributed some projects to another book, Instant Expert Crochet. I also make crocheted bags and rag rugs for a great little shop in Hastings, East Suffolk and am thinking of approaching a shop in Greenwich Market, too, though I'm worried about committing myself to making too much to sell, as my other jobs leave me little time for any commitment to productivity. Still, it's nice to have something to do in the evenings; I couldn't possibly just sit there and watch television!
