My working life is always pretty frenetic: some days I wear my editor's hat; then I have to switch to my writer's hat, then my artist's hat. The hats themselves are, of course, merely a turn of phrase: though perhaps I should actually buy some real hats and wear the appropriate one to help me get into the role and shield me from the distractions of my other occupations. This week I interviewed heptathlete Kelly Sotherton, subbed copy on travel (winter sports) and finance, filled a few pages of my sketchbook, took a few photographs, bought a book on Aboriginal art, bought some equipment an supplies for my son, who goes off to university on Monday, framed two watercolours and hung them, and set up a still life which I am about to start painting, and signed up for Portuguese lessons and life drawing sessions.
I also lost my temper (a bit) with the television (which has broken) and my computer (which doesn't obey me when I try to scan in pictures to put on this web page); and went to see the film, Cinderella Man, starring Russel Crowe and Renée Zelwegger, which I really enjoyed and thoroughly recommend.
