Grey silk top

Grey silk top

This flared top is made in 100% silk yarn, which gives it a really luxurious finish and makes a soft fabric that drapes beautifully. It is knitted in one piece, using a circular needle; the only seams are on the shoulders.
The armholes and neck are edged in double crochet, while
the picot hem is formed by creating a row with regularly spaced eyelet holes. The silk bow is simply threaded through a couple of stitches at the front of the neckline.

This yarn tends to have quite a lot of joins, which show up in the finished fabric as small flaws. In order to disguise these, I suggest stitching a translucent sequin in place where each of these flaws occurs.

Making up, and borders
Using the tapestry needle and spare yarn, join the shoulder seams. Join yarn to armhole edge of right shoulder seam and, using the 3.00mm crochet hook, work two rounds of 82 (84, 86) dc all round armhole, spacing stitches evenly. (Remember, when working in rounds of double crochet, you will need to work 2ch in place of the first dc on at the beginning of each round.)
Fasten off and cut yarn. Work left armhole in the same way.
Join yarn to neck edge of left shoulder seam and work neck border as follows: 40dc down left side of front neck, 14 across centre front, 40 up right side of front neck to shoulder seam, 11 down right side of back neck, 30 across centre back, and 11 up left side of back neck to shoulder seam – 146dc
